Arizona Language Teacher Certification June 24, 2016

In 2009, the State of Arizona passed legislation empowering tribes to establish their own Native language proficiency standards. Since the passing of the new law and policies, several Arizona tribal communities have been working to create their own standards. This informal workshop allowed for a sharing of the different processes and experiences that tribes engaged in to create their own standards. The experiences of the San Carlos Apache Tribe were highlighted. Instructors: Ofelia Zepeda, Ph.D. (Tohono O’odham), Cordella Moses (San Carlos Apache)
