Techniques & Tools for Recording Talk, February 14 & 15, 2015

This workshop  provided an overview of the options available for cost-effective language recording with a variety of media - audio, video, text and images. Participants learned how to record a fluent speaker, including how to set up and control the environment; how to transcribe the words, phrases, or cultural activity that was collected; and how to store the gathered material. The workshop was designed for a range of technical skills (basic to advanced).

Participants brought equipment for language documentation that they used currently or would like to learn to use - which included: digital recorders, cell phones, tape recorders, video cameras, tablets and laptops.

The instructor for the workshop was Tyler Peterson, Ph.D. The workshop was held at the College of Education, University of Arizona, Tucson.
