Arizona Tribal Language Verification for Teachers

An historic policy change unanimously passed by the Arizona State Board of Education allows tribes to establish their own native language proficiency standards.  AILDI has sponsored periodic working sessions designed to encourage tribes to draft their own policies. To date, the Navajo Nation, the San Carlos Apache Tribe, the Tohono O'odham Nation and the Gila River Indian Community have written and designed their own language proficiency verification standards.  Contact the AILDI office for more information at COE-AILDI@email.arizona.edu
