Medicine Making Workshop, April 26, 2014

Valerie Segrest, a Native nutrition educator and coordinator of the Muckleshoot Food Sovereignty Project provided a lecture and workshop. The free lecture held on April 25 was entitled, Traditional Food Principles: Guidelines Based on Native Knowledge. Her goal is to restore health and well-being to her tribe and other Native communities by combining traditional Native food and plant knowledge with modern scientific findings. Segrest is co-author of Feeding the People-Feeding the Spirit. Participants in the hands-on, free workshop learned how to make an herbal tea and salve. The workshop was held at the College of Education, University of Arizona, Tucson.
