The American Indian Language Development Institute (AILDI) celebrates its 19th year as a leading program in American Indian linguistics and Indian education. As we acknowledge this achievement, we also recognize that American Indian and Alaska Native languages are perishing at an alarming rate. This year, AILDI's theme is "Giving Life to the Language: Personal Commitments and Responsibilities.” Reflecting this theme, we will feature a special whole-Institute seminar on REVERSING LANGUAGE SHIFT, taught by renowned sociolinguist Joshua A. Fishman, and special training sessions on developing and implementing immersion and master-apprentice language learning programs. Other courses include:
- Bilingual Methods and Materials
- Linguistics for Native American
- Communities
- Linguistics for Nonmajors
- Teaching Indigenous Languages as Second Languages
- Literacy Development and Native American Literature
