This workshop will provide an overview of the options available for cost-effective language recording with a variety of media - audio, video, text and images.
Participants will learn how to record a fluent speaker, including how to set up and control the environment; how to transcribe the words, phrases, or cultural activity that is collected; and how to store the gathered material. The workshop is designed for a range of technical skills (basic to advanced).
Participants are encouraged to bring equipment for language documentation that they either use currently or would like to learn to use - digital recorders, cell phones, tape recorders, video cameras, tablets and laptops - for hands-on assistance
