AILDI collaborated with the Huhugam Heritage Center to conduct a workshop that focused on the Maricopa or Piipaash language. The seven-day workshop was led by Lynn Gordon, Associate Professor, Washington State University. Lynn Gordon had done fieldwork with the Piipaash community during the 70s. She shared her linguistic notes and recordings with the community and sought feedback on her current dictionary project. Dr. Gordon also visited Piipaash speakers from the Salt-River Maricopa Indian Community. Highlights of the workshop included a couple of well attended community gatherings where Piipaash speakers, youth and adult learners were able to work with Dr. Gordon on aspects of the language.
